New York, NY – September 6, 2017 – EnergyHub, the leading provider of connected device and distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS) for utilities, announced today that it had recently released Mercury 3.0, enabling DERMS capabilities in the company’s enterprise software solution for utilities.

The upgrade to Mercury allows utilities to connect to and manage every class and size of distributed energy resource (DER) — from the grid-edge to the substation. Utilities can now use Mercury to optimally monitor, manage, and control fleets of DERs in order to maintain grid reliability and deliver grid and customer services.

In order to take full advantage of the potential of grid-edge DERs, utilities need a DERMS that was designed to manage both the scale and unique performance characteristics of these diverse resources. Building on EnergyHub’s experience as the premiere provider of Bring Your Own Thermostat (BYOT) services, Mercury 3.0 is specifically equipped to manage these types of challenges.

“Mercury was built for the next generation of grid management,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, President and Co-founder of EnergyHub. “Our goal with this update is to provide utilities with a DERMS platform that solves their problems today and evolves with them as new grid-edge challenges arise in the coming years.”

EnergyHub has already contracted with multiple utilities to use the new capabilities of the Mercury DERMS, with those programs planned to be announced soon.

Expanded device ecosystem

Mercury 3.0 expands EnergyHub’s roster of fully integrated device partners, enabling monitoring and control of grid-interactive water heaters, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, energy storage systems, and smart inverters. This expansion, combined with EnergyHub’s industry-leading ecosystem of connected thermostat partners, allows EnergyHub to offer utilities the widest variety of fully integrated DER partners in the industry.

Advanced asset management strategies

Mercury 3.0 allows utilities to use a variety of advanced asset management strategies to manage our expanded device ecosystem of DERs. In addition to the robust demand response capability already available on the platform, utilities can now use Mercury for load shifting, solar monitoring, advanced rate management, and a variety of other grid services. Mercury can now leverage advanced machine learning and forecasts generated by our analytics engine to provide automated dispatch for DER fleets.

Improved forecasting

Mercury’s powerful analytics engine now learns resource consumption and production patterns in order to provide utility operators with real-time forecasts on both load and production across an entire fleet of connected devices. These forecasts inform dispatch strategies and optimally allocate resources across a fleet of distributed energy assets.
